City Symbols

The city symbol is designed in the shape of the Chinese bellflower using 'K', the first letter of Kakegawa as a motif, and symbolizes the city's vision for a city that connects the sea, mountains and roads creating dreams and the future. It was created in 2005 along with the amalgamation of the old city and two local towns.

The Chinese bellflower is rhizocarpous, which is a perennial plant that is easy to cultivate. The plant comes in various colors such as purple or white, and has an elegant style. The form of the flower is used in the design of the city symbol.

The trees are planted in various parts of the city. It is an elegant tree with orange flowers and a nice scent.

The Japanese bush-warbler inhabits all areas of the city. It is well-known for its cries of 'Ho-hoke-kyo', and the beauty and elegance of this song.
